I just discovered this podcast and it is a great resource. Looking forward to learning more in each episode.
Every day I do research, sometimes for hours. I have so many more avenues thanks to MS&S. I listen and follow all the notes to go even further into my ancestry. I look forward to every new episode, thank you
I love this podcast. I am learning so much about my ancestors
Maples Stars and Stripes is a great podcast from which to learn about searching for your Canadian ancestors. I’m a beginner and enjoy this format. Every month Sandra interviews experts on some aspect of genealogy. She is articulate, informative and presents her material in such a fashion that “covers” all the bases. She truly loves what she does! Thanks Sandra!
Sandra Goodwin finds the topics I never even knew I needed to know. She finds the authors, historians, archivists, and overall experts on Franco-American genealogy. You will not find anything else like it on line in 2019!
I have learned so much from Sandra and her guests about French Canadian genealogy. Her show notes online are comprehensive. As a relative beginner genealogist, a tool like this podcast is valuable.
I've listened to every episode and many of them more than once. I especially like the guest interviews and authors.
I wish I had discovered these podcasts before I started building my tree, it would have prevented me from making some mistakes and certainly would have made everything easier!
I love the structure of these podcasts - each one has some language hints, some news, as well as a lecture about genealogy research or history or culture. All of it is fascinating and well-presented. Lots of interviews with other experts such as French-Canadian genealogical societies, or researchers such as Lucie Leblanc C... more
In December, with help from two angels at the French Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan, I finally unearthed the source of the family story that an ancestor adopted the name Hall from the original French Canadian name. Using parish records, I discovered our Betry-Boucher family! It was the best Christmas present ever! It opened up curiosity for French-Canadian history and genealogy - out of which I discovered this amazing podcasts. In one short month I've learned so much listening to these po... more
This is my favorite podcast. I have all the books from the guest authors and have used all the references in my research. Great Job Sandy!

I just discovered this podcast and it is turning out to be a very instructional use of my time. Until three years ago, I did not know I had French-Canadian roots so when I started to dig into that ancestral line, there was a lot I did not understand. This podcast provides lots of links, explanations, and language help. The last is especially helpful since I do not speak French. Sandra Goodwin was a teacher for over 35 years and it shows! Each podcast is structured in a very educational format an... more
I highly recommend this for anyone just starting their research. It's a perfect how to do guide with many tips. It's presented in a user friendly manner and is very interesting and informative. A perfect guide for anyone but particularly helpful for beginners or anyone who is stuck. It has many tips I learned the hard way and waisted some time because of it. The only negative is the pronunciation of some of the French isn't the best so I'd use it as a very rough guide or for reading documents.... more
Thank you soooooo very much for putting together this podcast. I have French-Canadian ancestors who migrated to Minnesota in the late 1800s, but lived in New England before doing so. This podcast will help me very much and I hope to hear more about migratory topics of the French Canadians into the USA.
I discovered your podcast after reading about it in the ACGS quarterly newsletter. I usually listen on my way to work and follow up with your website for notes. I have definitely applied some of your tips to my research. Thanks and I can't wait for future episodes.
This podcast is fabulous! I've researched my French Canadian ancestry for decades. The French names and language has always been a mystery to me. Sandra explains French names and the language in a way that is very helpful. She is extremely knowledgeable and well organized.
