  • Excellent practical advice and support for older nurslings

This podcast is gold for a variety of breastfeeding topics. I have found particular value in the stories of mothers who have breastfed during pregnancy, tandem fed, and/or breastfed a child into the toddler or preschool years. Listening to the practicalities of what this can look like was incredibly helpful for me as navigated that stage myself. Emma’s discussions with parents span almost any breastfeeding challenge, offering support for just about any situation. I highly recommend this podcast ... more

  • I have learned so much

I find it so reassuring listening to this podcast. I am breastfeeding a 4 year-old, something that I did not plan for. Emma‘s insights and advice have emboldened me in my decision to continue breastfeeding. I would love an episode about breastfeeding older children, if you don‘t already have one!

  • Healing

Listening to your podcast is healing me so much. My breastfeeding is very positive, I’ve had the chance to not have big bumps on the milky way, apart from a booby refusal that lasted a day or two. But when it comes to raising a baby and breastfeeding amongst family and groups of friends that do not have little children but many opinions about it, it can be hard sometimes, lonely and bring doubts.

Listening to you helps gain reassurance et realizing again and again why I’m still breastfeeding my... more

Emma's story - breastfeeding and being hospitalised
Q: How did you manage breastfeeding after the surgery and during your return to work as a lawyer?
Breastfeeding continued with careful pumping only when necessary, and then gradually transitioned as Isabelle's needs changed, including nighttime feeding reductions and eventually self-weaning.
Emma's story - breastfeeding and being hospitalised
Q: What was it like navigating the hospital stay when you had surgery and wanted Isabelle with you?
Emma describes how she advocated for herself, connected with the infant feeding team, and eventually obtained a policy that allowed her to have Isabelle with her and a supportive partner during hospitalization.
Emma's story - breastfeeding and being hospitalised
Q: Tell me about Isabelle. Where is she right now and how's life for Isabelle?
Isabelle is almost four, happy and excited for her birthday, thriving at preschool with some recent changes in staff, and looking forward to school in September.
Danielle's story - an IGT journey
Q: Do you think earlier access to specialist support would have changed your outcome?
Yes, earlier access to specialist guidance and validated diagnoses like IGT could have shortened the trauma of trying to double-down on pumping and possibly altered the path toward combi-feeding sooner.
Danielle's story - an IGT journey
Q: What did breastfeeding mean to you while you were pregnant and how did your early experiences shape that view?
She explains her initial ambivalence in adolescence, how living in Uganda shifted her perception of breastfeeding, and how a feral instinct emerged after birth that motivated her to try to breastfeed despite difficulties.
