Your habits don’t just fill your calendar, they form your heart. We sit with 1 John 2:12–17 and start where John starts: identity. Before any warning about “the world,” we remember what is already true for God’s people. Our sins are forgiven through ... more
You can know all the right answers and still be slowly reshaped by bitterness. That’s the tension we sit with as we open 1 John 2:9–11, where John draws a hard line: claiming to live in the light while hating a brother or sister is still darkness. Sp... more
If “knowing God” is real, it won’t stay hidden. We sit with 1 John 2 and the blunt, liberating challenge: those who say they live in God should live as Jesus did. Not by copying first-century details, but by letting our lives take on the shape of Chr... more
Most of us want a faith that changes us fast. One powerful moment, one perfect prayer, one undeniable spiritual experience and suddenly we become more like Jesus. But real spiritual formation usually happens in the quiet stretch between the mile mark... more
If Christianity can be examined, why do so many of us feel like we have to hide? We start with John’s grounding claim that faith is built on the real Jesus, witnessed and proclaimed, not a private spiritual experience or secret insight. Then we sit w... more
If God is light and there’s no darkness in him, what does that mean for the parts of our lives we keep carefully hidden? We start with John’s insistence that Christian faith is grounded in the real, historical Jesus someone people heard, saw, and tou... more
The quickest way to lose credibility is to say one thing and live another, and many people don’t just notice that contradiction in Christianity, they’ve been hurt by it. We open 1 John and face the uncomfortable claim of 1 John 1:6: if we say we have... more
When a church gets shaken, the hardest question isn’t about programs or preferences. It’s the gut-level one: what can actually hold us together after disappointment, division, dishonesty, betrayal, or real harm? We sit with that reality and turn to 1... more
Madison church has accepted me and my family and all our flaws as humans! They are an amazing church family and very welcoming to everyone! It is such a loving environment and teach amazing hard hitting topics every week that most churches don’t like to discuss. Since 2018 we have had the wonderful opportunity to call Madison church our church home and plan to be here for many many years to come! We hope to see you all come out even if you are just looking to try new churches!
Love this church. The community that they have with the people is amazing. I love the music that they sing is wonderful. I came from a different church that didn’t really treat you as a member. Where MadisonChurch treats you like family. I also love that they do a newcomers lunch on the first Sunday of the month is wonderful where you can just eat and get to know more about everyone.. Worth going.
Love this church and pastor. Making it accessible and relevant to follow Jesus in Madison.
I love that this podcast comes directly from the Madison Church sermons. It gives me the opportunity to relisten or catch up if I were to miss a Sunday message. Plus I enjoy the added bonus episodes where my questions get brought into the context of the Bible and answered. Stephen does an amazing job of curating sermons to the everyday person, like me. His messages are challenging, but make me want to dive deeper into the scripture and explore what god has in store for me.

The episodes center on Christian community, faithful leadership, and everyday application of biblical teaching. Topics frequently explore how faith shapes fellowship, generosity, and resilience in the face of chaos, with a strong emphasis on Acts-era examples and practical guidance for church life. A recurring pattern is sermons and teaching that anchor life in Jesus, the gospel, and spiritual formation, while encouraging lived faith through service, patience, and relational integrity. A notable strength is the blend of pastoral reflection with actionable takeaways for daily life and community building, plus opportunities for audience questions and deeper scriptural exploration between Sundays.
