  • Great advice for non-moms too!

I’m not a mom but I do tend to overextend myself with friends, family & co-workers due to the perception that I have more time & energy without kids. Susie’s episode about “caring for everyone but yourself” felt like a deep inhale & exhale - realizing that self neglect and putting our needs last can also put our own health at risk. This podcast is so empowering and educational!

  • Conversational, and Down to Earth

Let me start by saying that I am not the target demographic for this podcast. Being a single almost 30 year old man with no kids, I didn’t think I could take much from it when I first clicked play. However coincidentally, I was actually able to take a lot from the episode I happened to pick: “3 Habits That Keep You Stuck After Narcissistic abuse”. By examining not just my past relationships but those of some people who I know have gone through that experience, I was able to see immediate relevan... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Breaking Free from Shame + Codependency with Dr. Zoe Shaw
Q: Can you talk about how complex shame shows up in midlife?
Dr. Zoe discusses how hormonal changes during midlife can shift dynamics in relationships, leading women to assert themselves more, potentially creating difficulty in those relationships if not addressed compassionately.
Breaking Free from Shame + Codependency with Dr. Zoe Shaw
Q: Can you tell us a little more about what you mean by that?
Dr. Zoe explains that complex shame is an unhealthy emotion deeply tied to one's identity that forces individuals to hide, creating additional issues in relationships.
Enmeshment and Enmeshment Trauma
Q: Can you give us a definition, a sort of working definition of what enmeshment is?
Enmeshment is a continuum where there's very little differentiation between individuals in a relationship, often resulting in a boundary-less situation that can feel intense.
Food Addiction: Dopamine, Cravings, & GLP-1s
Q: What is Bright Line Eating and how does it differ from other food plans?
Bright Line Eating focuses on four clear boundaries: no sugar, no flour, no snacking, and measuring quantities at set meals, promoting a lifestyle change rather than a diet.
Food Addiction: Dopamine, Cravings, & GLP-1s
Q: Can you explain how food addiction is a brain-based issue?
Food addiction is complex as it operates deeply in the brain's reward systems, often being triggered by external cues like advertisements and our environment.
