Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Women, Money, and How I Lightened My Money Mindset
Q: What are some common myths or misconceptions you see women having around money?
A major myth is that hard work alone guarantees money; many women also struggle with charging for their value and stepping into leadership roles in money matters, often due to societal messages about gender and money.
Women, Money, and How I Lightened My Money Mindset
Q: How did you get into working with women and Money Mindset?
I grew up around money instability and later saw the way women are conditioned around wealth, which motivated me to help others reframe money beliefs. I started by sharing what I learned from my own money journey and built from there into a program that has helped thousands of women.
378: Enmeshment + Codependency with Dr. Kate Balestrieri
Q: To start us off, can you give us a definition and signs of enmeshment in relationships?
Dr. Kate explains enmeshment as a boundary continuum centered on interdependence, where there is little differentiation between individuals, often marked by a child assuming caretaking roles for a parent or a parent relying emotionally on a child. Signs include a parent needing the child to be a certain way to feel okay, and the child internalizing the parent's needs over their own, potentially leading to a loss of identity and lifelong relationship challenges.
How to Stop Overfunctioning and Feel Lighter
Q: Hi Susie, what if my kids and husband are happy with me jumping in to fix things, and my control feels like it's working?
It's a short-term win that gradually harms confidence and independence. Over time, it leads to burnout and someone else's under-functioning; the real win is stepping back, regulating your emotions first, and letting others experience the consequences and growth. This builds their resilience and your freedom.
How To Stop Ruminating
Q: What if I don't believe my new thought after choosing a different way to think?
That's common; use a bridge thought as a mini step toward the new belief, and seek shorter, believable intermediate thoughts to gradually shift your mindset until the new thought feels credible.
