  • Shocked

As I was listening to this podcast, I was shocked to hear Debra interview an ex who is a covert narcissist and was physically, emotionally, sexually abusive. A man who repeatedly told me that he owned me and that a man can’t rape his wife as he forced himself sexually on me was featured in this podcast.

Q: What final tips would you give singles to stay healthy and hopeful through this time?
Infuse daily life with meaning and structure, participate in online worship and study, cultivate connection with others, and consider practical challenges that stimulate growth, like reading missionary biographies or learning new phrases in another language, to keep minds engaged and spirits encouraged.
A Single’s Guide To Thriving In Quarantine
Q: What are some practical ways to fill emotional needs when touch isn't available?
Emotional needs can be met through relationships via calls, texts, virtual presence, and acts of service. Using tools like weighted blankets or pets for sensory comfort, plus intentional acts like sending care packages or starting meaningful conversations, helps fill emotional gaps.
A Single’s Guide To Thriving In Quarantine
Q: Lisa, what are some hardships singles might be feeling right now that outsiders may not fully grasp?
Singles often face loneliness, lack of built-in accountability, and the absence of physical touch or daily routines that come with living with someone, which can intensify a sense of isolation. Yet, practical steps like scheduled check-ins, Zoom Bible studies, and creating accountability networks can mitigate these challenges.
The Myth of The One
Q: Is there such a thing as there being one person out there you're supposed to marry?
The guest explains that there are different views, but emphasizes that regardless of belief about a single 'one,' the healthier approach is to date with purpose, pursue personal healing, and look for a compatible partner through a process that builds a strong, faith-aligned relationship.
How Do I Deal with Difficult or Toxic People? With Gary Thomas
Q: What role has feedback played in your co-authored projects, and how have you processed negative feedback?
Feedback is a tool for growth; the key is discerning trustworthy input and being willing to adjust, while staying true to the mission and God's call.
