We're just two professors standing in front of a rom-com, asking it to be the subject of our podcast. Paul Eastwick and Eli Finkel explain what your favorite romantic films get right -- and wrong -- about the science of romance. Because it's time for scientists to take Ryan Gosling as seriously as you do.

  • A perfect eval for the critical

Oh boy am I obsessed with this show. It blends all of my favorite things, science and research with relationships of the varying kind. I DEEPLY need them to do Pretty in Pink because there are so many different relationships going on with different levels of complexity. I’m eating these episodes up.

  • A gem of a show

Paul and Eli are absolute delights to listen to — I love how thoroughly they comb through the movies they cover, and their insights about relationship science in general are equally fascinating. Keep up the amazing work!

  • After Before Sunrise

The first episode I listened to was the one that viewed and contemplated and then reviewed Before Sunrise. This led me on to Pretty Woman, Bridget Jones, and now I am happy to see Before Sunset winking at me. Perhaps I am a cynic too prone to judge as I expected this podcast to be replete with the current faddish aversions to a menagerie of -isms hosted by the same old kind of ideologically ‘in’ and not-as-bright-as-believes-self-to-be ‘clever person’. I am happy to acknowledge myself chastened ... more

  • Fun Show

I’m really liking hearing all the psychology research and also revisiting some fun movies. Very interesting! But I definitely don’t always agree with the overall reviews of the movies (to be fair that’s very subjective). But I think it would be super interesting to get some guests on that are not cishet men just to get some other takes on the movies themselves.
