  • Good conversations with interesting people

Paul‘s companionable chats give a lovely glimpse into the way practising artists think about their work and its place in the world. His questions are generous and open up the chance for guests to go beyond well-oiled lines and stock points, and instead share something of themselves. The recent one with Laurent Garnier was a delight. But I’ve also loved discovering less familiar figures - both emerging and veteran artists who weren’t on my radar before.

  • Engaging Content

One of the nicest parts of the podcast is when Paul has his vignettes about life in Berlin. I also enjoy the interviews, even though a lot of the artists are unfamiliar to me. I like the easy manner because it allows me to hear where the artists are coming from, and I go on to discover their work. Exactly what a music podcast should do, and Paul does it well.

Tiga
Q: How did your early experiences in Goa and Montreal shape your approach to music and performance?
They gave me a lifelong sense of nightlife as a basic, familiar language, plus an instinct for creating spaces that feel both rebellious and welcoming. That upbringing encouraged me to lead with a strong personal voice and to mix influences from punk, synth-pop, and techno into a club-ready sound.
Alexis Taylor
Q: How did Paris influence the recording of the new album?
Paris provided a focused studio environment and collaboration with local producers, which helped shape a more intimate, vocoder-rich sound while still allowing room for the band's broader UK and DFA-inspired influences.
UFO95
Q: Can you tell me a little bit about why you were drawn to Brutalist architecture with your album?
Ufo95 connects the raw and direct nature of Brutalist architecture to his music, aiming to recreate its confusion and emotion through sound.
UFO95
Q: What drew you initially to focus on doing live sets instead of DJing?
Ufo95 explains that coming from a rock music background inspired him to maintain the feeling of live performance with instruments rather than pivoting to DJing.
Nathan Fake
Q: Did you find that there were any challenges transitioning from making music for yourself to having an audience?
It was intimidating at first, but I was pleasantly surprised by the positive reception of my music when I started playing it in clubs.
