  • Essential listening

Thoughtful, deeply soul-inspiring conversations at the vivid, fertile interface between science and spirituality. This feels like one of the keys to the metacrisis. Really encouraging. Thank you.

  • Brilliant binge listening podcast!

I’ve only just discovered this podcast and I love it! I first listened to James when he was a guest on another podcast a couple of years ago and what I love about this podcast is the perfect balance between spirituality and science which for me as a bit of a doubting Thomas it answers so many questions the ego likes to reassert Itself with. It’s like a book you just can’t put down. I actually started with the oldest episode first and have listened to 5 episodes today already, thank goodness for... more

  • Always a fascinating listen

Great intersection between complex systems science and physics (particularly far-from-equilibrium thermodynamics) on one hand and mindfulness and psychedelia on the other. Each episode exposes you to a fascinating perspective you may not have even considered before. Whether or not you buy into the ideas, it’s always a fascinating listen

  • Fantastic

One of the most interesting and grounded, yet inclusive, podcasts around today. Many fascinating and important topics are discussed, with the connections between them cleanly distilled in a way that I have yet to find elsewhere.

  • Quietly compellingly intuitive

This is thoughtful work, discussing where our politics and our psychology meet. To someone who does a lot of podcast listening, it’s really fresh, really incisive, and never shouty! One of my favourites! Thanks James!

AMA: How does the concept of Self in Internal Family Systems (IFS) relate to awakening?
Q: How do you think self is related to your philosophy or theory?
Self in IFS refers to a state of awareness free from identification with emotional parts, promoting a compassionate engagement with one's inner experience.
James Cooke live at Totnes Consciousness Cafe: Nondual Naturalism & the Unity of Life & Consciousness
Q: Is there something I need to do differently with a mic? It's not buzzing.
I share, I really resonate with everything you said.
James Cooke live at Totnes Consciousness Cafe: Nondual Naturalism & the Unity of Life & Consciousness
Q: What about boundaries in terms of time?
With The Awakening, what seemed obvious is that what exists is a kind of timeless flux now. It's always now, and it's eternal in that sense, totally unbounded.
James Cooke discusses Nondual Naturalism on the Weekend University podcast with Naill McKeever
Q: Do you think this view of non-dual naturalism could be mainstream?
While it offers a liberating perspective, the integration of spiritual insights involves navigating through deep personal pain, which makes its mainstream acceptance complex yet ultimately rewarding.
James Cooke discusses Nondual Naturalism on the Weekend University podcast with Naill McKeever
Q: What do you think the default unconscious assumptions we carry about the world are?
The core assumption we make is that we are a small separate self, somewhat alienated from the rest of existence, which creates a sense of hostility in the world.
