Lit After Dark

Simply the best of all the Dark podcasts out there. A series as heady and dense as Dark deserves an equally heady and dense analysis. Lit After Dark delivers. Tommy, Josh and Jenn do a great job each episode of breaking down what we see on the screen in addition to "reading between the lines".

As much as I want to hit next episode, I always follow up each Dark episide with the corresponding podcast episode. Everyone gives such great insight into the charaters, symbolism, and overall story. I always have an "OOH" moment because someone always brings up something I didn't catch while watching it myself. I love 'lit takes' and 'still in the dark'. I absolutely love that it's spoiler free as I'm watching for the first time myself.

I’ve been listening to companion podcasts since 2004, and this is the best yet. Yes, the technical parts are good (sound, episode notes, etc), but more importantly the hosts are smart, funny, relaxed, knowledgeable, humble, and fans of the show. If you haven’t seen the show this is the perfect companion to untangle the complexity and depth of the story as if unfolds. Dark is hands-down the best show ever made (I’ve already finished!) and hearing you guys discuss the episodes makes me appreciate it even more, as you bring up things that I’ve never thought about or noticed.

I found these guys when I was in the middle of season 1 and they were the only ones not doing spoilers past the episode they were discussing. I love the in-depth analysis tommy, Jen, and josh give and sometimes they get me to chuckle. My only complaint is they sometimes get facts on the show wrong and I find myself yelling at my phone, but overall they are insightful, great at keeping the theory crafting and guessing going while not spoiling future episodes. Love the in-depth discussion, the insightful commentary, and the respect these great teachers have for each other and the material. Their approach is wise and hilarious, often echoing my impressions but also providing many new thoughts and reflections as well!!! This podcast is such a great companion to the show, and I can’t wait to hear each episode when they come out! I binged the third season in two days and have been sad ever since that this amazing show has come to end... but now I get to relive it through this podcast! Just finished the first episode and it was great. Lots of fun discussions here. Looking forward to more! :)

If you were a fan of Lost, you’ll definitely love Dark. Dark is visually rich and full of questions! If you’re not watching closely you may miss a context clue, foreshadowing or some helpful symbolism. Tommy, Josh and Jenn do a great job of rounding up important moments in the show plus they ask all the questions you had in your head while you were watching. This podcast is lighthearted and analytical – I highly recommend it.

Lit After Dark is just as fun, if not better than your third period AP English Lit class. If you weren’t totally obsessed with Dark before, you would be after listening to this podcast.
