  • Great Show!

Definitely helps me level, even after playing MTG for decades.

Love how the show flows and can tell a lot of time is spent editing to give the best listener experience.

Appreciate the “Menace” mechanic more, after listening to the top 10 limited mechanics. Never thought it from the perspective of potentially better value for evasion and lower cost if need to block with. 🍄⏫

    Keep up the great work!

  • #1 for learning

I listen to a lot of limited podcasts - LR, Lords of Limited, Art of Draft, Drafting Archetypes, Limited Edition, and others that have come and gone - and this is the best one for getting better at limited Magic. Super useful information with a minimum of hot takes and contrarianism, presented in an easy to learn format.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Limited Level-Ups 165: PT Chicago Draft Testing with Top 16 Player Jason Ye!
Q: What do you think about going against the grain in a pro tour setting?
I don't agree with their strategy of avoiding certain colors; you should read your pod rather than assume players will overdraft a specific color.
Limited Level-Ups 165: PT Chicago Draft Testing with Top 16 Player Jason Ye!
Q: What were your thoughts about the draft format?
I certainly wanted to spend an inordinate amount of time on draft to really learn the format, although I got distracted by brewing.
Limited Level-Ups 165: PT Chicago Draft Testing with Top 16 Player Jason Ye!
Q: How does it feel to play and do very well in your first pro tour?
I'm very stoked with how I did, certainly an 11-5 final record. Overall, I'm still very happy with how I did.
Limited Level-Ups 171: Pro Tour Testing and Self Improvement, With Matt Sperling!
Q: What holds you back from playing Limited at the PT level?
Overconfidence and insufficient time to practice, leading to a lack of preparation for limited formats.
Bonus Episode: Pro Tour Drafts With Top 8 Competitor Jason Ye!
Q: What was the rest of your deck like? What was it filled out with?
It was mostly just like removal spells and creatures.
