  • Favorite MTG Podcast

I listen to 5 or 6 MTG podcasts regularly, but Sam has really knocked it out of the park with Rough Drafts. The focus on a specific card or type of deck in most episodes allows the podcast to explore a lot of specific gameplay situations or interactions. Sam uses those examples to connect to and teach about some of the larger ideas and theory at play in limited Magic in a way that I find extremely engaging and impactful to my personal understanding of the game and how I play. • Cool pod

I like that he doesn’t spend hours and hours belaboring a point, we’re in and out with food for thought in about 25 minutes. Different from a lot of the draft content out there right now.

Episode 69 - Stark Industries Executive ft. Justin Lenz
Q: What red cards are you enjoying most of all? How are you getting into red in this format?
Justin explains he starts with strong picks in other colors, notes undervalued red cards early, and then pivots to red when the pack windows suggest it will be open, focusing on cards like Loki, Hawkeye, Jessica Jones, and Photon Blast Barrage as powerful engines. He emphasizes Stark Industries Executive as a core piece that enables treasure-based plays and allows late red bombs to shine, along with careful timing to ramp into their top-end threats.
