Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Legally on the Move: Professional Training - James Jorgensen - E03
Q: If you could implement one practical change in your organizations tomorrow to improve team performance, what would it be and why?
Implement clear, aligned goals tied to a shared vision and strategy, plus empowering teams with discretionary effort to move beyond mere compliance toward credible, sustainable client value.
Legally on the Move: Professional Training - James Jorgensen - E03
Q: What leadership behaviors most strengthen collaboration and what quietly weakens it?
Leadership behaviors that strengthen collaboration include setting clear goals, fostering safe environments for dialogue, and ensuring discretionary effort is valued; weakeners include fear-based management, lack of trust, and poor alignment across incentives.
Legally on the Move: Professional Training - James Jorgensen - E03
Q: But in your own view, what is the most misunderstood driver of performance in teams?
The driver isn't just revenues or metrics; it's about understanding how firms can align identity and behavior, and how leadership tone at the top shapes psychological safety and accountability, which ultimately unlocks performance.
Legally on the Move: Professional Training - Peter Riddleston - E02
Q: In your own view, what is the most misunderstood driver of performance in teams?
The most misunderstood driver is treating high performance as an individual trait rather than a team context; genuine performance comes from alignment of purpose, how work contributes to success, and shared goals across the firm, not just individual metrics.
Why We’re Entering an Era Where AI Helps Lawyers Instead of Replacing Them - Wendy Jephson - S10E09
Q: To begin with, would you mind telling our listeners a bit about your background and career journey?
I started as a lawyer, then moved into in-house roles, shifted toward decision-making and judgment studies in real-world practice, pursued psychology, and eventually led the development of behavioral-science-led AI products to support high-stakes decision making in professional services and finance. This culminated in co-founding Let's Think to design technology that helps experts think more productively and teach their tacit knowledge to juniors.
