  • Information I Didn’t Know I Needed!

Thank you, Ken Landau!! I listened to “Protecting Your Ideas” Part 1 and then had to listen to Part 2. Holy smokes, as an entrepreneur I had no idea all the things I don’t know! I teach a specific writing formula to students applying to college, and I think I need copywriting and trademarks for my logos!! WOWZA! Thank you to your guest, James Harrington, I just might be calling him sometime! Cheers! @drcynthiacolon

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

United Nations and the Law
Q: How does the UN relate to law and what are its core mechanisms for enforcing or guiding international norms?
The UN operates as a global referee and facilitator, shaping humanitarian norms and peacekeeping through nonbinding norms, binding Security Council actions when consensus exists, and sanctions and missions when there is broad agreement, while often relying on diplomacy and incentives rather than a central police power.
Lunch and the Law
Q: What can managers do to encourage lunch breaks without triggering resistance?
Managers should model behavior, ask employees what would help, approach it with empathy, and frame requests as mutually beneficial adjustments rather than complaints.
Lunch and the Law
Q: Why is a structured lunch break important for wellbeing and productivity?
Structured breaks like a shared lunch or wellness activity help re-energize employees, foster connection, and boost creativity and collaboration, leading to better performance.
Mortgage Updates and Options
Q: How do you explain the debt-to-income ratio and its impact on loan approval?
The housing payment should typically be about 50% of gross income, with total debt ratios capped around 50-56.99% depending on the program, and there are ways in non-traditional products to tailor this for self-employed borrowers.
Legal Writing
Q: So just give us some general ideas on what makes legal writing different than ordinary writing.
Sophia Roma explains that legal writing has a defined purpose in US law, focuses on explaining how law applies to facts, and requires a clear, logical sequence using a structured reasoning process to be understood by judges, clients, and other lawyers.
