‘Play high, Hooky! Play high!’ Ian Curtis had been Joy Division’s conductor and lightning rod, giving his crucial nod of approval to Peter Hook’s upper-register bass sound and pulling the strings elsewhere. In May 1980, though, after Ian’s death, the... more

Thoroughly enjoying this podcast. 3 key factors for me are their musical backgrounds, their having discovered these bands in real time, and the fact they are from Australia. As an American who didn’t start blowing my allowance on Import 12” more
Great podcast about music that was just before my time but came to love soon after. Great production, interesting conversation and funny.
I love this podcast. These guys have a great rapport, don’t take themselves seriously, and love the music. Plus, they’re funny. I can’t wait until they do and episode on The Church. I mean, c’mon — The Church!!
Found this by searching a band I knew, but I’ve enjoyed every episode. The hosts have known each other for ever and it’s fun to hear their friendship come thru as they talk about all this great music. Hope they continue to create new episodes!!
I never thought I’d hear a podcast that discusses New Gold Dream or Flowers/ Icehouse records in detail or The Cure’s Faith in two of three presenter’s top 5. I don’t like or know all of the bands that get an episode but I listen and I always learn a lot. Highly recommend to anyone who believes music peaked in 1980.
