Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

KCR Book Space: Ep 17 (22 May 2026)
Q: You recently received a prestigious award in the slam circuit; can you tell us about that experience and what it meant for you?
Adara shares the sense of achievement and the collaborative experience of being part of an all-women team that won a major slam, highlighting the role of teamwork, performance, and recognition in propelling a poetry career.
KCR Book Space: Ep 17 (22 May 2026)
Q: What is slam poetry, and how does it differ from traditional poetry readings?
Slam poetry is a high-energy, competitive form where poets perform original work within a time limit, judged by the audience, with emphasis on performance, rhythm, and crowd engagement rather than reading from a page.
Erica Warren from the Co-op
Q: What makes The Courtyard distinct in the local dining and events scene?
The Courtyard uniquely blends the old building's historic charm with a contemporary Australian courtyard experience, and the cuisine emphasizes local produce with a rotating innovation from the kitchen, including flatbreads and elevated, shareable dishes.
Erica Warren from the Co-op
Q: What was the biggest challenge opening the restaurant at the co-op?
The biggest challenge was meeting a tight deadline and ensuring all logistics and fixtures were in place so the venue could open smoothly, followed by ramping up marketing to spread the word.
Erica Warren from the Co-op
Q: How did your background in hospitality lead you to the co-op in Gerringong?
My family has long been in hospitality, and after roles at the Grand Hotel and Grayley Kiama, moving to the co-op felt like a natural evolution where I could apply decades of experience to a community-centered venue.
