很多年前，我在敦煌壁畫裡常看到一個故事：國王、老鷹、鴿子，與一座天秤。天空之神化為老鷹，火神化為鴿子，試探仁王尸毗是否真正慈悲。鴿子躲入王宮，老鷹說牠只要血肉。國王便割下與鴿子同重的肉放上天秤，卻怎樣也無法平衡。直到最後，他明白，不是肉與鴿子是否等值，而是「所有眾生本來平等」，於是他整個人躍上天秤，那一刻，幻象消失，世界歸於寂靜。
這故事從印度傳入敦煌，像古老的動漫，用圖像講慈悲與生命。今天再看它，我也想到環境、動物與人類之間的關係：我們能否回到善意？

最近我很驚訝，阿佑開始讀『紅樓夢』了。很多年輕朋友覺得這本書遙遠又難進入，但其實只要跨過兩個關卡，第六回寶玉初識性、以及第九回學堂鬧劇，你就會發現，『紅樓夢』其實是一本超級「青春」的小說。
