A listener named Ben recently sent in a great question about one of the most debated topics in fly fishing: line weights. He shared his own experience of buying a high-end 5-weight rod, only to find out a year later that it performed best with a heav... more

In this episode of Into the Backing, we tackle a complex and polarizing issue: native fish vs. introduced fish. That phrase has always sounded odd to me, so I figured there must be more to the controversy. As it turns out, much of the online debate s... more

I just listened to episode 7 where you guys talk about Washington’s ban on fishing from a boat on the OP. My understanding is that many of the OP and... more

This podcast was a welcome surprise when I found it. As with all things human, there are multiple angles from which to view an issue. This podcast provides a discussion forum for those most intimately familiar with an issue to present their view and why they hold it. Science is welcome whenever science is being developed on the issue.
It’s so refreshing to listen to a discussion by experts who are driven by scientific inquiry rather than simply arguing on behalf of one side or the other.
A great podcast but people get confused about what is and what isnt a feral animal. Just because an animal isnt native doesnt mean it’s feral. Pig, Goats, Camels etc in Australia are domestic animals living wild, Feral animals. Deer in Australia are introduced game animals, never were domesticated, not ferals. A whole Podcast right here. Keep up the great work 👌👍
