  • Great show but…

I don’t know if the interviewer needs to turn his mic up or talk louder. I can barely hear or understand the questions and then the coach’s voice blows my speakers out. Makes it very hard to listen to without adjusting the volume over and over again.

  • Love it BUT….

Absolutely love this podcast. The content is always great no matter who is on to discuss ball. BUT please turn the volume up on your audio. The volume is very low despite my speakers being on max volume. Thank you and appreciate all of y’all’s great content!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Peter Davila, Defensive Coordinator - Keiser
Q: How did you kick through that door to get that first opportunity?
Networking and seizing the opportunity in the right place led to my first GA/part-time role, which then opened doors to longer-term coaching roles; being in the right building at the right time mattered as much as preparation.
Tony Dungy, Former Head Coach - Indianapolis Colts
Q: What was the difference you noticed between your first year in Tampa and your first year in Indianapolis as a head coach?
In Indianapolis, I came in with more respect from players who had already seen some success, which helped immediate credibility; I also stuck to a clear plan and high expectations, building a culture that valued consistency and leadership, which led to quicker early success.
Joe Price III, Wide Receivers - Kentucky
Q: What would you tell someone trying to break into college football coaching from a high school background?
Meet as many people as you can, forge authentic relationships, and keep the players as the main focus. It's a multi-year process where early hard work and clarity about your desired role ultimately lead to opportunities.
Jerry Mack, Head Coach - Kennesaw State
Q: How did you manage to grow across diverse roles and levels without getting boxed into one niche?
I prioritized learning every facet of the game, built relationships with influential administrators, and constantly expanded my offensive toolkit, which allowed me to adapt and lead across multiple programs.
Jerry Mack, Head Coach - Kennesaw State
Q: When did you realize coaching would be your path, and how did you get your foot in the door at Delta State?
I reached out directly to the Delta State head coach, secured a conversation, and leveraged a combination of persistence, strategic FaceTime, and presenting a clear vision to become a graduate assistant.
