  • Coaches are always looking for resources

And while every coach says they want more resources, most of them live in a reality that allows for professional development days, strategy session, and talking with other coaches typically only once or if you’re lucky twice a year.

Having a podcast like this is like being able to spit ball Ideas every single day on your commute to the field

Great work guys keep it up

  • More Football Less Ads

Absolutely love the football portion of the podcast, but the ads make it hard to get through episodes sometimes. Just had to quit on an episode after listening to 20 minutes of selling Ace Sports for the hundredth time. It was like the entire episode was one long ad

How to Teach Defensive Run Fits without Overloading Your Players
Q: How do you teach defensive run fits so players understand the why and not just memorize assignments?
Create simple, universal leverage rules (e.g., outside/inside hip) and build drills around those rules so players fit based on ball carrier actions, not memorized play calls.
Q&A: Accountability, Building Culture, and Starting (or Rebuilding) a Program
Q: How do you balance being a players coach with still holding kids accountable?
It's a tough balance; effective leaders blend relationship with firm boundaries, communicate non-negotiables, and use over-communication to explain why decisions are made and how they help the team, while recognizing that leadership may require adjusting style as you gain more experience and observe how players respond.
The Key to Long-Lasting Coaching Success w/ Kevin Swift
Q: What role does family play in longevity and how can coaches balance it with coaching demands?
Family support is crucial; when a spouse is fully in, coaching is more sustainable. Balance includes cultivating hobbies outside football and leveraging a strong coaching community to share the load.
The Key to Long-Lasting Coaching Success w/ Kevin Swift
Q: How do you evolve as a coach without losing your core identity?
Continue to adapt schemes to fit personnel while preserving core principles; hire innovative minds, give them ownership with guardrails, and keep a focus on people and relationships over chasing every new trend.
The Key to Long-Lasting Coaching Success w/ Kevin Swift
Q: What causes coaches to burn out and how can one keep coaching for decades?
Burnout stems from viewing coaching as a pure job rather than a calling, plus lack of family support and insufficient life outside football; maintaining passion, family buy-in, and balance, along with evolving but principled coaching philosophy, helps sustain a long career.
