  • Chat GpT

Overall great talking points with the interviews and knowledgeable coaches. I would suggest laying off the Chat GPT summaries. They take away from the authenticity of the conversation. Also, using AI makes the content feel generic. Words like foster, crucial, critical, delve, and underscore are dead giveaways. Other than that, excellent pod!

  • Used to be great

Started following back in 2020. Had great football pods where you actually learned ball for young coaches who wanted to soak it in. Now, they’re 5 minute snippets of interviews where it’s generic talking points with the other 8 minutes for ads and promoting.

  • Great Content

The content the podcast brings is great and probably the best of any football podcast especially in the way that Keith seeks information from coaches and has a plan.

  • Great Content/Horrible Quality

The content the podcast brings is great and probably the best of any football podcast especially in the way that Keith seeks information from coaches and has a plan, but the audio disparity between Keith and the guest are so bad I’m borderline unable to even listen. Sometimes the guest will finish talking and I can’t even hear the host speaking because his volume is that much quieter than the guest and I’m stuck making dramatic changes to the volume level just to listen.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Champions - Starting with the End in Mind - John Perry, HC, Nixa HS (MO)
Q: What were the keys to translating a championship culture from Pearl to Nixa?
Perry emphasizes belief, clear vision, structured routines, and a scalable eight-week curriculum that ties leadership to daily behaviors and accountability.
The Passing Lab - Teaching Option Routes and High-Speed Crossing Packages - Colin Duling
Q: How do you combine pass run options with your existing protections to reduce the load on the offensive line?
We paired PROs with run concepts we already run, eliminating the need for separate quick-game protections. This integration means the quarterback hunts throws first and hands off if not open, which keeps protections simple and helps linemen stay comfortable with the rhythm of the offense.
The Passing Lab - Teaching Option Routes and High-Speed Crossing Packages - Colin Duling
Q: Can you walk us through the evolution of your RPO philosophy and what led you to simplify it?
We started with a broader system that read multiple defenders and required high quarterback IQ. As we moved to Bethel, we realized many players benefited from simpler decisions, so we targeted pure access throws with a 90% completion goal. This allowed the quarterback to be aggressive while still playing within a simple, repeatable framework that translated well across different personnel.
Pursuit of Perfection and Raising Standards - John Harbaugh, HC, New York Giants
Q: What were the first things you focused on when you walked into a new building and started with the Giants?
Establish the core principles, set a clear value system, and determine the culture and mindset by meeting the people where they are, then build from there with case-by-case decisions and strong, shared standards.
Football IQ - The Future of Quarterback Development - Nate Longshore, Founder, QB Method
Q: Outside of football, what draws your attention and how do those interests influence your coaching?
I'm driven by learning and curiosity, and I believe diverse interests—like cars, cooking, and restaurant worlds—inform a coach's perspective on teamwork, culture, and the way people learn and stay motivated; these insights translate into more effective communication and learning environments for players.
