As roles evolved, I added community health workers and public health responsibilities into primary care, while maintaining a focus on scalable, mission-driven improvements rather than just financial outcomes.

Q: When you returned from law school to clinical work, how did your legal training change the way you processed everything around you, and what opportunities did it create?

It broadened my view from focusing on an individual patient to seeing the whole system, including how policy and governance affect care delivery. It opened doors to leadership roles where I could transform programs at scale, such as integrated health systems and population health initiatives, while still practicing medicine.

The law degree provided a framework for understanding the regulatory, policy, and governance aspects of healthcare, while medicine gave me frontline insight and patient-level priorities. Together they let me think about scalable, lawful solutions to improve access and outcomes, especially for underserved populations, and to design systems that work across both clinical and policy domains.
