  • Enlightening… To Say The Least!

I had the privilege of not just listening to this show, but being a guest on the show. Host Reid Miles is a terrific host with a wealth of information regarding ASD and ADHD. As I told Reid, I learned more about autism in 30 minutes on his show then I did in a lifetime before it.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How a late ADHD diagnosis changed the way she works and heals
Q: For someone listening who has just been diagnosed or feels overwhelmed trying to navigate their brain, what's something you want them to hear from someone who's lived both sides of this?
You're okay. Start somewhere with a small, specific change—the lowest hanging fruit—and don't try to solve everything at once. Look for one thing that would help you move forward, whether it's a book, a podcast, journaling, or a class, and give yourself permission to begin where you are and grow from there.
How a late ADHD diagnosis changed the way she works and heals
Q: What was it like to go from guiding others to suddenly being inside the experience yourself?
It was frustrating and scary, but also empowering. The ADHD diagnosis, plus grief from losing a husband and then a traumatic brain injury, reframed my understanding of my own struggles and taught me to give myself more grace while learning how these conditions intersect and affect one another.
How a late ADHD diagnosis changed the way she works and heals
Q: So you spent over 25 years supporting students, adults with ADHD before your own diagnosis. How did you understand the people you were helping, and what did you believe ADHD really was at the time?
I understood that they needed help in what was going on with them. I thought and understood that neurodiversity meant brains work differently, and that people think differently. After teaching for years, I saw how I myself fit those patterns, and I began to realize there were signs in me too that I hadn't understood or could explain to others.
The Curious Storyteller: When Your Life Looks Fine but Feels Empty Here’s Where to Start
Q: What would it look like if more people questioned the script earlier?
If people question the script early, they could live on their own terms before midlife, gaining confidence to influence others and promote a broader cultural shift toward intentional living.
The Curious Storyteller: When Your Life Looks Fine but Feels Empty Here’s Where to Start
Q: Changing direction in midlife can feel daunting. What did reshaping your life look like?
The process involved stripping back conditioning, determining what an ideal life would be, aligning calendar and activities with core values, and making gradual changes rather than overnight revolutions.
