  • Great podcast, not great audio

I am really happy to have discovered this podcast, and I really enjoyed hearing Rachel Seed talk about her film. The two hosts were very good, making the conversation engaging.

That said, the audio mix was pretty bad. The first clip of the film was barely audible;the second was a bit better but not at the level of the conversation. Then at a certain point the conversation audio goes into sounding slightly reverby all the way to the end.

I look forward to hearing more but please QC before rel... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sundance Week: Gary Rubin Exposes the Sundance Film Festival Reality
Q: What role does festival strategy play in an indie film's chances of success?
Festival strategy remains essential for audience testing and validation; a select set of major festivals acts as entry points into the pipeline, and premiering at the wrong festival can devalue a film, so filmmakers must plan premieres carefully and align festival strategy with overall distribution goals and potential revenue streams.
SHTTL: The Last Day Before the Invasion — Ady Walter with Moshe Lobel & Saul Rubinek
Q: When did the project feel like it truly came together for you as the director?
Ady Walter explains that the initial Berlin bar moment sparked a clear, almost mystical certainty about the film's form, and that collaboration with the Ukrainian cinematographer and crew helped transform the concept into a practical, executable plan.
Oscar-Nominated Director Geeta Gandbhir on THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR | INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE
Q: When did you first become involved?
Geeta explains that the story came to them after the murder of Adjika Owens and that the project grew from seeing the immersive body camera footage and recognizing its potential to tell a consequential, cinematic story without traditional interview-driven structure.
A PRIVATE LIFE — Rebecca Zlotowski on Jodie Foster & Where Mystery, Romance & Dark Comedy Collide
Q: How did Jodie Foster come to be cast in the lead role?
Zlotowski explains she wrote the role with Foster in mind from the beginning and that Foster's American background and French fluency enabled a unique integration of the character's private life into the narrative.
Oscar-Nominated Documentary: CUTTING THROUGH ROCKS | What Happens When Women Lead?
Q: How did Sundance impact the film's trajectory and distribution?
Sundance gave us recognition and a platform, but distribution opportunities did not immediately materialize; we then pursued independent release with a dedicated team, extending screenings and building a domestic release through theaters.
