  • Enjoyable but

I really enjoy listening to this podcast about horse racing, my only complaint as of late is that there are podcast week can you hear what sounds like somebody filing their nails. It gets to be so scratchy I have to stop listening. Other than that these guys are sharp with their analysis!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Players Podcast - Florida Derby and Arkansas Derby Cards - PTF/Nick, Mikee P./Clay Saunders
Q: Do you like the favorite in the Arkansas Derby, or is there a price play you're eyeing?
I lean toward considering a price horse like the seven or eleven, with a focus on a late-running or mid-pack runner who can benefit from a contested pace and late shifts in the track conditions; the favorite is not dismissed but the value looks compelling for the longer-priced contenders.
Players Podcast - Florida Derby and Arkansas Derby Cards - PTF/Nick, Mikee P./Clay Saunders
Q: Who do you like in the first Florida Derby leg, race 10, and how do you see the pace shaping the race?
The plan is to focus on Laena and Secret Hideaway, with Laena clearly favored on paper and Secret Hideaway acting as a strong alternative; the pace is expected to be quick, which could set up well for a runner like Laena if the early pace holds.
Players Podcast - Virginia Derby Saturday - Kevin Kilroy, Will Humphrey
Q: Which horses are you most confident will handle the one-turn mile and long stretch at Colonial, and why?
High Camp and Incredible look like they have the right combination of stamina and speed for a one-turn mile at Colonial, with credible prep performances and favorable pace dynamics; Dazzling Dame also stands out in the Virginia Oaks context for potential multis play.
Players Podcast - Virginia Derby Saturday - Kevin Kilroy, Will Humphrey
Q: What makes the Virginia Derby field particularly interesting this year?
The field is unusually deep and balanced, with multiple three-year-olds showing different paths to the Derby and several horses shipping in from different circuits; the presence of Derby points and the one-turn mile at Colonial adds to the strategic wagering and pace scenarios.
Sunset Six Friday March 13th - with Dean Keppler
Q: What makes the Sunset Six a good betting angle for players right now?
The hosts note the value in player-friendly bets, mention the emphasis on lower takeout wagers like the late pick three, and discuss how carryovers can boost payouts while discussing the benefits of diversification across the sequence.
