Such a great podcast. Jean is a great host who shares her own story with profound vulnerability and insight. All the episodes I have listed to are ultimately uplifting and give the listener hope for their own challenges with pain through hearing stories of peoples struggles through immense pain to reaching a place of empowerment through the adversity faced. • Enthralling

Thank YOU so much, enthralling, insightful and very helpful. This journey of Chronic Pain is fascinating, I am still trying to come to terms with Prescribed Meds and the effect of alternative approaches, often feeling like a failure and now finding a Hybrid approach is most sustainable. The words and knowledge of Dr Flowers are super helpful and the parallels of your feelings of disasociation struck a chord. Thank you for all the hard work you put in creating what such ā€˜sage’ like conversations.... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mo Gawdat: Pain Is Okay. Just Don't Go to the Suffering
Q: What was Ali's influence on your theory of happiness?
Ali showed him that love and essence persist beyond physical presence, influencing his view that happiness can be engineered through gratitude and meaning, not material success.
Martin Wade: Former Senior British Army Officer on PTSD and Finding Optimism through Art
Q: How did you respond emotionally to the PTSD diagnosis, and what did it change for you?
It was traumatic and unwelcome; the diagnosis forced a reckoning with a career I valued, and while validating in some ways, it also marked a pivotal shift toward accepting a new path, including art as a form of processing.
Martin Wade: Former Senior British Army Officer on PTSD and Finding Optimism through Art
Q: What does pain mean to you in a personal and broader sense?
Pain is subjective and acts as an inhibitor to living in accordance with my values, a constant companion that requires navigating both physical and psychological dimensions.
Kai-Isaiah Jamal: Finding your Voice, your Identity and Finding Freedom
Q: Did you have like a moment, a specific kind of tangible moment, where you realized that you needed to have therapy for yourself in whatever form?
Kai described a significant breakdown experience in Paris that led them to therapy, emphasizing its importance in their healing journey.
Kai-Isaiah Jamal: Finding your Voice, your Identity and Finding Freedom
Q: What was that like for you in terms of how you connected to that or felt disconnected?
There was a tug and pull between being in tune with their body while feeling disconnected, which complicated their relationship with the fashion world.
