林委員的選區包括竹北市東部19個里及傳統的溪南地區，也就是從外來人口多、社區大樓多的竹北，以及有「大隘三鄉」之稱的北埔、峨眉、寶山，並一路延伸至五峰山區，截然不同的選民結構，致使候選人必須空軍陸軍齊頭並進，戰況激烈。

她說，新竹的族群多元，願意給新人機會，這裡既有老城市，也有新園區，這裡有土生土長的士紳和家庭，有清朝時來的第一代移民、國共內戰後來的第二代移民、更有因園區工作而來的新一任移民，她自己就是移居新竹18年的新竹媽媽，深深理解這個城市既必須國際化、更需要在地化，做為一個要反映民意的代表，必須能應付這個多元的需求，她相信自己已經累積和磨練成熟了，各項量能正是貢獻的時刻。

柯醫師是參選總統的柯文哲前市長的妹妹，第一次參選，就面對新竹市四搶一的激烈近身肉搏；她說，她在台大醫院新竹分院眼科服務了32年，看診過的病人和執刀的眼科手術不勝其數，但心裡服務的熱忱催促她服務更多人，她願意脫下醫師袍，把心力和目光從「兩顆眼球」，轉移到人民的生活上，讓「新竹更亮眼」。
