  • Daily uploads and more Duane

Please upload the show each day. I love the show but end up playing catchup with old news.

I agree with others that Duane should be the only guest host.

  • More Duane Plz

Love the show. Need to release shows on a more consistent basis. Keep the weekend pod, make sure you’ve got one on Tuesday or Wednesday morning at the latest, and fill the gaps with DUANE! That format costs you nothing. Also, Duane should be the all-time backup QB here. Never ask Mark Davis or Schlicter again. Those guys are hard to listen to. DUANE, DUANE, DUANE! 🫡👏👏👏

  • echo chamber

Enjoy the topics and Hughs interview style. That said, most of this is Hugh interviewing other podcast hosts (echo chamber) and, notably, almost never interviewing anyone from across the aisle who might push back on Hugh.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Should U.S. forces take Kharg Island?
Q: What is your view on a Kharg Island operation and its plausibility as a substitute for boots on the ground?
The consensus among guests is cautious: while a discreet operation might be possible, they argue against occupying territory, stressing air superiority, legal/strategic legitimacy, and the risk of escalation without broad domestic backing.
Supreme Court Issues Final Rulings of the Term
Q: What do you think about the birthright citizenship decision?
The panel largely views it as a legitimate textual interpretation by the Chief Justice, while noting the dissenters present alternative historical interpretations; the consensus is that the law should be read as written, and policy changes should be pursued through constitutional amendment or legislative action.
Bye Bye Platner, Balogun Returns, and The Smart Guys 3.0 review this SCOTUS term
Q: What do you think matters most next year in the Supreme Court's docket?
Key cases include immigration (TPS and asylum decisions), free exercise challenges to Smith, and the ongoing debate over birthright citizenship and the structure of presidential power; the court's composition and potential changes will strongly shape outcomes.
Bye Bye Platner, Balogun Returns, and The Smart Guys 3.0 review this SCOTUS term
Q: Josh, how did you view the term that just concluded, and how do you view the prospects for the next 250 years of court decisions?
The term reinforced judicial supremacy but remained ideologically divided; Roberts leads the court with conservative and liberal justices forming varied coalitions, and there are big cases ahead on immigration, gun rights, and constitutional limits.
Strikes in the Gulf, Curtains for Platner
Q: What do you think happens next for Graham Platner and the Maine race?
There's a sense that Platner's political viability has collapsed, with ongoing questions about who the Democrats will nominate and how the party will rebrand itself to appeal to working-class voters, while Republicans hope to capitalize on the vacancy.
