  • NCAA Regional Sites

NCAA regional sites are set based on the host school of the regional. Allentown is picked by Penn State and Toledo is picked by Bowling Green. The NCAA puts the regionals out for bid and schools have to bid to host a regional. Toledo is a great venue with all the necessary facilities and hotels and restaurants being downtown Toledo in the arena where the Toledo Walleye play in the ECHL. Perfect site for a regional. Keep up the great work!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Minnesotan: Greg "Boom" May
Q: What is your coaching blend, and how does it compare to Marty Surge and Winnie Brode Brown?
I bring a balanced blend of players coach and disciplined driver; relationships matter, but there must be honest conversations and high standards, which align with the staff strengths in skill development and program culture.
The Minnesotan: Greg "Boom" May
Q: How do you view development versus the portal in building a championship team?
Development should be the default path through smart recruiting and internal progression; the portal is a tool for filling gaps when needed, but the goal is to have players grow within the program and stay longer to contribute to sustained success.
The Minnesotan: Greg "Boom" May
Q: What will be different about the Minnesota program under your leadership compared with before?
The program will reboot with higher compete level, more discipline and professionalism, a clearer structure in all zones, and a focus on developing players within the system while maintaining speed and talent; the aim is consistency and accountability across all drills, games, and seasons.
The Women’s Hockey Pod: Alli Altmann
Q: What does the path look like to make it onto the U18 bench and then Team USA?
She describes networking through camps, leveraging connections (e.g., St. Kate's), and consistent performance that led to U18 responsibilities and eventual roles with USA Hockey.
The Women’s Hockey Pod: Alli Altmann
Q: What got you started in hockey?
Alli explains she started in third grade largely because of her older brother and Minnesota's strong hockey culture, and she became a goalie to fill a need in her youth team.
