Reviews

4.3 out of 5 stars from 2.5k ratings
  • What drove me absolutely nuts was Brenda's total inability to get through even a single episode without absolutely mangling the pronunciation of names and other words--even common words. Reading aloud is clearly difficult for her. Brenda has obviously never been "hooked on phonics." She either needs to learn to read aloud better, or learn to edit. The constant, senseless slaughter of poor, innocent words is too much to bear at times.

  • Not the worst....

...but needs a lot of work grammatically. During the John List episode the host actually said "eXspecially". 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Secondly, the host's WAY too perky tone of voice is seriously disrespectful to the real victims. Sounding happy when discussing someone's murder is in bad taste.

With all the other reviews mentioning the same grammar annoyances, it's really frustrating to continue listening to this host with no effort from her to fix the issues.

I'll be unfollowing this podcast for that re... more

  • Could Be Good, But…

…this woman relates these dark tales in a voice and tone that is WAAAY too cheery. I’m not saying that she has to be overly downbeat or maudlin or anything, but…my goodness. It’s incredibly insensitive and off-putting. As there are MANY reviews that have stated the same thing, she might want to consider our points and adjust accordingly.

  • Great show but please pronounce “plague” correctly!

Great show and engaging presenter, but the repeated pronunciation of the word plague (and this word crops up a fair bit in this podcast!) as “pleg” is really really frustrating! I don’t even think this pronunciation is normal in the US?
