  • Top notch podcast

Very good podcast! Professional, well presented, and informative. I enjoyed the episode about oversized cars.

But it is a bit quiet. Would be good if you could use more compression, as I can’t hear everything unless I’m sitting in a quiet room.

Q: How does Main Roads coordinate the various systems across the network to manage incidents and movement?

Stuck at a Red Light? Here’s What’s Really Going On #29

Is 40km/h the new 50km/h? Why 10 km/h matters to WA streets #27
Q: How does reducing speed impact survival chances in a crash, especially for pedestrians?
Reducing speed lowers kinetic energy on impact, which dramatically increases survival chances for pedestrians (e.g., from around 20% at 50 km/h to about 60% at 40 km/h, and much higher at 30 km/h), making crashes less deadly.
Is 40km/h the new 50km/h? Why 10 km/h matters to WA streets #27
Q: Not at all. Is 40 kilometers an hour something to be afraid of on local streets?
No, in free-flow conditions journey times are not meaningfully affected and the lower speed is designed to make local streets safer and more pleasant, particularly for pedestrians and children.

Q: How did Henry Ford influence car ownership in WA?
