I met Jeff a few years back when I was invited to come over to his house to hot lap our R/C cars on his home track in his back yard in Lester, IOWA. We had a great time that day. Now years later the track is gone but this fantastic Podcast is so wonderful to listen to. Thank you for all the great episodes and I look forward to many more🏁. Jeffery A Huebner Sioux Falls, SD.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Zach Patterson
Q: Can you walk us through how you became the tire guy for a major team?
Zach describes progressing from early racing in Texas and Oklahoma, learning tire work on the road with Wayne Johnson, and eventually earning the Tire Guy title with Big Game, gaining more responsibilities over time.
Sean Rayhall
Q: How did you end up at Park Jefferson for your first race with your car during the COVID era?
It was largely about it being the available option that year and Terry McCall's invitation, which leveraged Sean's European Le Mans credentials to get through the gate, even though it was an invitational field and not a fully equal field.
Bonzai Bruns
Q: What are some of the craziest things you did as a crew chief?
Describes an incident where a buddy started a car in Nebraska, ricocheted into a hotel doorway, and other wild episodes that illustrate the unpredictable nature of racing life.
Bonzai Bruns
Q: Where do you call home and how has your move affected your racing schedule?
He's still based in Ohio, near the Sprint Car Capital, and has moved family members around but continues racing both locally and regionally.
Bonzai Bruns
Q: So Bonzai, you're telling us how you got the name Bonzai. Maybe just give us a quick little story about how that name came about.
The nickname originated with his brother in high school, then Bonzai wore his brother's racing jacket, and it stuck as the call sign when he hit the road.
