Gravel Cycling Podcast by Meme Account Admin @holyspiritofgravel. Cycling discourse from a satire based gravel-centric perspective. No authority, vaguely above average fitness, biased, and only somewhat informed. Much like a gravel privateer--a failed American cycling podcast pivoting to a less competitive niche / subculture. • This is the highest form of human intelligence

It takes a special brain to make niche gravel meme-ing into highly insightful long form convos. Maybe my brain has rotted but maybe it’s rotten in the same way that HSOG’s has. Would recommend. (My friends nor my mom don’t want to talk about this kind of stuff with me).

  • Episode 41 was my first and last episode. The girl (i think) is really annoying and the guy is dead silent 80 percent of the time. It seems like the girl edits this and takes out a ton of shit.

  • Gravel Normie Checking In

Excellent pod that provides a look behind the dark curtain of gravel. It unflinchingly calls out gravel dads and people who ride tires narrower than 2.4, keeping the roads safe for us all. It’s an audio meme that tickles your amygdala in all the right ways. Get activated. Listen to this pod.

  • Nailing it

Strikes the perfect balance of fun-poking and insightful observations of current gravel culture. Like an auditory longform explosion of the memes from their Instagram. I hope these two keep riffing for a long time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

the Andy Lydic episode
Q: What's your take on the balance between the gravel lifestyle and the business side of sponsorship and media?
Gravel is a meme sport in some circles, but the reality is that success now requires marketing and media presence. I'm focused on clean, honest content that shows the real travel, prep, and sometimes mud and mistakes, while using sponsorships to fund the program. It's about selling the lifestyle and the performance, not just the race results, to attract and sustain the kind of support that allows a longer, more diverse season.
the Andy Lydic episode
Q: How did you transition from racing in the United States to making a career in gravel while living in Girona?
I moved there in 2022 after chasing opportunities with Spanish amateur teams, which eventually steered me toward gravel where I could mix European racing with US events. The key was finding sponsorships that supported both road and gravel ambitions and joining a team that valued the privateer path. This setup let me race internationally, build a brand, and pursue a serious gravel program without losing sight of road racing potential.
the Hannah Shell episode
Q: Do you think Gravel should be in the Olympics?
It's a controversial topic, with some traditional cyclists viewing gravel as less legitimate, though I believe it's becoming increasingly respected.
the Hannah Shell episode
Q: What are your plans for next year?
I'm hoping to focus on more Gravel Earth events and potentially apply for the Lifetime Grand Prix again, but if not, I want to travel more for gravel races.
the Paul Sandmann episode
Q: Do you call yourself a pro cyclist?
I wouldn't say so. I'm not a full professional yet, but I've had more time to train before Unbound, which has helped me improve.
