Above ground, this place is all books. But below? There are letters, maps, old restaurant menus, military antiques, coin collections, stamps, walking sticks, an upsetting amount of HUMAN HAIR and — most importantly — some incredible stor... more

  • Go check the garage !

So amazing to hear about the things being kept in our “State Garage” and the wonderful people doing the daily tidy and sort process. I’d love to see it as a tv series but am also inspired to go to the SL and see what is kept in this remarkable Institution and keep the foot-traffic happening

  • Wonderful

Love this but wish it was a TV series. I just want to see the things they are talking about. I want to see the seven underground floors painted different colours and the compass that is on each floor. I want to see the paintings - a verbal description just isn't good enough. I will wait eagerly for each episode.

Vinegar syndrome
Q: What makes born-digital content more challenging to preserve than material that's been on paper?
Born-digital content is dynamic and software-dependent; it changes with applications, file formats, and online platforms, making it harder to capture, preserve, and later access compared to physical items.
Vinegar syndrome
Q: Can you tell me who you are and what you do?
Matthew Burgess explains he is the lead digital archivist at the State Library of New South Wales, focusing on digital preservation, data analysis of the library's network, and guiding authors to organize their digital files for archival processing.
The giggle twins
Q: How did you two become known as the Giggle Twins?
We were incredibly loud in the library, always cracking jokes and bringing energy, which earned us that affectionate nickname and a unique place in the staff story.
