A Meticulous March through the history of Venice from the very beginning with lots of little jokes and parallels to the present to keep listeners engaged. I am continually in awe of how much research goes into this.
Entertaining, informative, and free of annoying music and sound effects so perfect for night time listening. It’s the perfect backdrop to a visit to Venice! I’m only docking a star because one of the hosts consistently mispronounces some of the words and it’s a bit distracting (it’s FRIULI, not Froo-illy) but this is a minor gripe.
This is what a history podcast should be: well-written, intelligent
and thoughtful with I particularly appreciate the way in which it interrogates its sources. Well done!
Had hopes of this though I did not at all enjoy the first episode - unknowing woman asks all-knowing man questions and is enlightened. From the second on they both inform us. Jess is rather a flat script reader but early days and the material is interesting. I then visited the website to be confronted with the message that in using it I consented to their use of cookies.
