Extremely interesting stuff! Thank you so much for making this podcast! The detail and commitment to integrity is wonderful. I hope more seasons are to come!
As an academic whose focus and background is in West Africa I can say without a doubt this podcast is one of exceptional quality. These are the kinds of shows that need to receive exposure to help the public better understand the history of Africa.
I just got into this podcast and it seems like season one is completely missing from Apple podcast. Is there a place I can check it out?
A terrific podcast! Proof that what you need to produce quality content is a microphone, a well-written, well-researched script, and a presenter passionate about the subject matter. When a series is this good, the fluff and window-dressing that adorns other podcasts is just a distraction. I'm looking forward to Season 7.
Love this show but ca no longer find season 1 and beginning of season 2!

This show offers deep, well-researched narratives about African history, spanning empires, trade networks, and cross-cultural exchanges from ancient to more recent times. Episodes often center on Somalia to Kilwa, Swahili coast civilizations, and the impacts of external powers, with a strong emphasis on source material and nuanced, non-Eurocentric perspectives. Fans value the thorough storytelling, clear explanations of complex political dynamics, and the host's careful presentation of contested histories. A standout feature is the episodes' breadth across regions and eras, which helps listeners connect events from the continent's many civilizations to broader global histories.
