Canada’s history is full of triumphs, tensions, and turning points. Yet too often, it’s reduced to headlines or overshadowed by present-day debates. History Matters was created to give space for deeper conversations — ones that connect the past to the present, and help us see why context matters more than ever.

Not keen on the talk about “sleepwoking”, which seems like revisionist history to me. The author and podcast argue for the need for context in evaluating history, and then ignore it entirely. Cornwallis is generally recognized as an incompetent, petty, and vicious leader, and his treatment of the local natives was horrid. The author refers to ‘Indians’, which makes me wonder which hole his head has been in since Columbus.
