Jesus sets us free, but what do we do with that freedom? In Galatians 5, Paul warns against two ditches: earning God's love and using grace as a license to do whatever we want. Instead, he calls us to put the old self to death and keep in step with t... more
What did the very first church give itself to? From Acts 2:42-47, Phil looks at four marks of a healthy church: learning, loving, worshiping, and reaching out. Then he asks a simple question: which one do you need to lean into this week?
Before you can know what the church is, you have to go back to the day it was born. In Acts 2 the Holy Spirit comes, Peter preaches about Jesus, and 3,000 people respond. That moment still shows us what the church is today and invites each of us to a... more
Jesus isn't just one part of the story. He is the Creator who holds everything together. In Colossians 1, Paul shows that Jesus is God in the flesh, supreme over creation and the church, and that his death on the cross brings us back to God. The only... more

Jesus rose from the dead, and that changes how we face death. This week we're in Matthew 28 and 1 Corinthians 15, looking at why Christians don't have to fear death and what hope actually looks like on the other side of the grave.
I wish everyone in Minerva (and beyond) would listen to this podcast. Phil and Paul are informed, educated, calm, rational, non-confrontational, and faith-based. How do followers of Jesus deal with the injustices of our world? They never advocate for any political party, just for Christians to be active in standing up for all people who were created by God, which means standing up for those of us who are not yet treated fairly. I’m so proud to know these men!
