Tim Grierson and Will Leitch are lifelong best friends who have been writing and talking about the movies for 25 years. Grierson is vice president of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. Leitch is doing his absolutely best to pretend. Read their work everywhere. But listen to this show for the pure juice, straight on tap.

Leitch is about to turn a big round number, so there's no show next week, sorry: Lots of moving parts in Athens. But we've got three big movies to discuss before we leave you for a fortnight. First off, it's Benny Safdie's '90s UFC story "The Smashin... more
This is the movie a lot of us have been waiting for: It's Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another." We dig in deep on this one. To say the least.
We also have a Reboot, in honor of the late Terence Stamp, it's Steven Soderbergh's "The Lim... more
The big fall movie season is JUST about to start -- the Paul Thomas Anderson movie next week is probably the unofficial start -- but we've got three movies to get through before it does. First, it's the romantic comedy "A Big Bold Beautiful Journey."... more
Hey, Grierson's back! Cool! Grierson tells us about his experience in Venice and Toronto, and then we talk about two new movies: The Stephen King adaptation "The Long Walk" and the mock rock doc "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues."

I first found the Grierson and Leitch podcast thanks to a recommendation from the great Keith Law. I’ve listened every week since. I moved to Japan 10 years ago, and while I try to catch every non-dubbed movie I can, I miss too many of the movies I want to see. The podcast helps me enjoy all the films I can and can’t see on a whole other level. Listening each week feels like old times for me - watching a bunch of movies and then chatting about it over a beer with my buddies.

I’ve been listening to Will & Tim talk about movies since the Deadspin days. It’s the only podcast I don’t skip because I always enjoy hearing them discuss that week’s new releases, and I really appreciate learning about smaller movies I’d otherwise miss.
My movie request is 1997’s CURE by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. I saw it for the first time recently and became obsessed. A fascinating thriller that really rewards a rewatch.

Gonna try to game the algorithm by hitting a bunch of random buzz words in my review:
Great podcast! So sexy! Grierson and Leitch SLAM problematic discourse around Timothée Chalamet and Blake Lively. Five stars, so hot!
(But seriously, this podcast is fantastic, and I’d love for them to reboot Bob Fosse’s All That Jazz)
The Grierson and Leitch backstory is really great—childhood friends share an interest in the arts, each embarks on a career in the arts and succeeds—and it strengthens the podcast. These are two people who enjoy movies, want to talk about movies, understand movies on a deep level, and know how to discuss movies in a way that audiences will understand. The criticism is meaningful and enjoyable; while there aren’t many significant disagreements, each critic is respectful of the other’s opinion.
