  • Great info on cover crops

This podcast has some great information for agriculture, but more specifically on cover crops.

The one thing for myself personally that does not resonate - and I mean no disrespect at all - is the frequent “God talk”. I would be considered agnostic if anything so being that I’m not religious, I can’t say I’m a fan of the frequent talk of God as it’s done on the show and sometimes I feel as though it may narrow the audience demographic at times.

Just wanted to provide my opinion/perspective on ... more

  • A Podcast hosted by experts in cover crops and regenerative agriculture

I’m extremely excited about this podcast hosted by Keith Berns and Green Cover Seed. The first episode featuring Gabe Brown offers some history in the regenerative ag movement. I can’t wait for the next episode and hope to hear more about cover crops, mixes, and regenerative ag.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode #31: Building a Drought Resilient Grazing Operation Using Perennials and Cover Crops with Kevin Wiltse
Q: What piece of advice would you give to someone starting down this path?
Go see other people's operations, learn from their systems, and invest in formal training like Ranching for Profit and holistic management. The core of successful change comes from within, but gaining perspectives from others and building a support network accelerates the journey and helps you stay committed to the long-term plan.
Episode #22: Regenerative Farming in Japan with Raymond Epp
Q: How has policy and government interaction evolved in Japan?
Over time, government seed policies and university research started to align more with regenerative goals, with farmers and researchers co-creating testing and breeding approaches to fit regenerative systems.
Episode #22: Regenerative Farming in Japan with Raymond Epp
Q: What role did education and community networks play in adoption?
Education and peer-to-peer learning were central; five farmers started an experimental program, which grew to dozens, with social networks like Line helping farmers share experiences and progress.
Episode #22: Regenerative Farming in Japan with Raymond Epp
Q: How did you start in Japan and begin to shift toward regenerative practices?
I began by learning the local soils and practices, then gradually moved to organic methods, balancing community expectations and long-term results before expanding to broader regenerative practices.
Episode #23: Growing Giant Pumpkins & Boosting Crop Yields with Regen Agronomist Joe Ailts
Q: What is the role of mycorrhizal fungi in your system, and how do you apply them on different crops?
Mycorrhizal fungi act as a nutrient and water delivery network for plants; in pumpkins they are applied at roots and leaf-node zones, similar to inoculation practices on beans and corn to accelerate nutrient uptake and growth.
