  • Hilarious

What an epic group of people/personalities! Started an episode to learn about plants and now it’s a favorite for entertainment AND learning. They talk about a variety of plants and are current with the seasons.

  • Like family dinner…

… with your hilarious cousins. I could listen to this garden centre’s staff all day. Knowledgeable and opinionated, with delightful accents. (Is it mandatory for all Nashville citizens to have a sexy radio voice?)

Gonna run out of back episodes soon. Hope they keep it going a long time!

I love listening to the show live on Saturday mornings, but this podcast is great for on the go listening. The show has provided not only a lot of knowledge to my gardening but some comedic relief during the cold winter months and dog days of gardening. I love how each episode takes questions from gardeners to shape it, makes it feel more personal and like I’m a part of the show.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 144 | Dollywood annuals, The story of Peggy Martin, Asparagus | May 2
Q: Do you still have blueberry bushes? Will asparagus grow in the shade?
Blueberries are well stocked; asparagus will grow in shade but will be thinner and less productive, still edible, and can tolerate some shade though full sun is ideal.
Ep. 144 | Dollywood annuals, The story of Peggy Martin, Asparagus | May 2
Q: What's the story behind the Peggy Martins you put on social media, annual, perennial, sun or shade?
Peggy Martin is a Louisiana gardener, and the climber named Peggy Martin Rose survived Katrina-era floods and saltwater exposure; it's a vigorous, sun-loving climber with abundant blooms, and it's become a popular plant symbol for resilience.
Ep. 146 | HOSTA, When to water flower beds, Fungus gnats on houseplants | May 16
Q: When are Peggy Martin roses arriving and how many are left?
They arrived with high demand and sold out quickly; a countdown on social media helps fans know when more will come in.
Ep. 100 | Blackberries, Lavender harvesting, Crab grass | June 28
Q: What can I grow from seed or starts in the veggie garden this weekend?
Keep things simple with beans or sunflowers, which germinate easily and extend into fall; otherwise focus on ornamental accents that tolerate late plantings.
Ep. 110 | Tulips in Tennessee, Dawn redwood, Pansies | Sept 6
Q: Can we plant tulips now or should we wait?
Wait a bit, as warmer temperatures in the forecast could cause foliage damage; meanwhile you can plant pansies or other fall plants and get tulips later in the season.
