Awesome mix of guests and hosts with great senses of humor! This podcast is getting me through long hours of blind stints monitoring nesting seabirds off the cost of Maine. I must look crazy laughing hysterically at a few stories all alone in a wooden box surrounded by thousands of screaming terns. The story about the guy shxtting in the closed off shorebird nesting area had me rolling. Big fan!!!
If you want another birding podcast filled with the same old facts you already know and is hosted by old, stodgy white dudes then this is NOT for you. Heather, Sean, and Scott (along with their guests) provide the perfect mix of humor, irreverence, science, social justice, and stories. Listening to this feels similar to grabbing a drink with your birding friends after a full, successful day of twitching.
I find FMP to b one of the best conversational podcasts that incorporates elements of natural history, recreation, work and life. It's extremely funny and I find myself smirking constantly when anyone starts ranting about mis-ID or poor birding etiquette because we have all been there before. It's definitely a must listen to anyone who enjoys birding, both casually... more

Episode 1 introduced me to Jesse Gordon and his photography and so right away, life was better thanks to the pod. The hosts are smart, compassionate, and hilarious and Sean's occasional fowl-mouthed rants are iconic (like the one in the Genevieve Nuttall episode directed toward people with land ... so right-on and so freakin' funny). I love when Sean is featured on podcast panels like ABA's. I appreciate Heather and Scott's transparency about the challenges of parenting while trying to keep up ... more
