  • Awful

This podcast is not nothing more than a pick and mix, copy paste job. They use existing documentaries and take one liners from them to create a story. The narator is terrible and the “background music” is louder than the spoken words.

  • Enjoyable

A great recipe: history with a twist of conspiracy, a pinch of mystery. Loving it for an easy going listen towards relaxation, yet still well informed.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Skulls of Dornach: Evidence of a Forgotten Massacre
Q: What does the display of skulls tell us about medieval and modern memory of war?
The skull display reveals a continuity of memory, from immediate post-battle handling to modern memorialization, showing how communities choose to remember and symbolize past conflicts through monuments, ossuaries, and public education about casualties.
The Skulls of Dornach: Evidence of a Forgotten Massacre
Q: How did the crushing victory come about, and why was it so comprehensive?
The Swiss cantons won through disciplined infantry, strong cohesion, and effective formation tactics, using superior leverage and mobility to defeat a numerically larger imperial army; the Swiss advantage lay in loyalty, rugged terrain experience, and strategic focus on key chokepoints like the Dornach bridge and castle.
Al Capone: America’s Most Notorious Gangster
Q: How did Capone cultivate a positive public image while running a violent criminal organization?
He worked with journalists and public figures to present himself as a businessman and benefactor, attending events, promoting jazz and culture, and aligning his public persona with respectable civic activities to shadow his criminal activities.
The Exodus: Legends and Legacy
Q: Why does the Exodus still hold such power?
The Exodus is central to Jewish identity as it symbolizes a divine transaction between the Jewish people and God, establishing their relationship and covenant.
The Vanishing of the Princes in the Tower
Q: Could Henry VII have ordered the murder of the princes?
He certainly had a motive for ensuring the permanent disappearance of the two boys, thereby strengthening his claim to the crown.
