Thinks Rosemary’s Baby is misogynistic and not a commentary on 1960s misogyny, thinks the objectification of the man in Revenge means Jen is a sex worker and not that it’s an attempt to flip the male gaze of typical rape/revenge films. It feels like they want a lot spoon fed to them. I mean, I don’t know how you get through Revenge and never notice they’re on a hunting trip or that Jen wants to go to LA to get famous, but they managed it.
I listen to a lot of horror movie podcasts, and this one is very well done. Interesting and informed dialogue about the movies, how they relate to the genre, their making, and what it’s like to be a female in a dangerous world (real or fake). Show is tight— they have a structure and don’t meander very much (unlike some other 3 hour podcasts). Definitely recommend for those who enjoy digging into the genre from a balanced female perspective.
Such fun romps through my fave horror films paired with super smart analysis. Love to listen!
Love this podcast, a weekly must listen! I can always count on the final girls podcast for a fun and entertaining take on both new movies and some of my all time favorites! Proud to be a scream thing!
Completely stumbled on this show and I’m really glad I did. Hosts are entertaining and informative and bring a new angle to films I’ve heard about a hundred times already.
Definitely worth a follow
