  • Politics… (sigh)

I love this podcast and the whole crew, I’ve been listening since 2020 but I have to admit the show has gotten worse due to the fact that there are too many toxic political discussions almost in every episode now.

I know politics are everywhere now and its hard to avoid discussing it especially in the US but as someone who’s in the middle of the spectrum I wish Slash crew either discussed it from different perspectives, be more objective or just stick to reviewing the movies without bringing up... more

  • Good, but used to be GREAT!

I like this podcast and everyone on it, but I am sad that they put my favorite part, the box office rundown, behind a paywall on another podcast. It hurts. Even though the show is weekly now, it can still review the previous weekend’s box office on Wednesday. It is still extremely relevant to THIS podcast. I don’t understand it.

  • Mixed bag since the format change.

Been listening to this podcast since day one, there’s been some changes that have been good, and many that have been rough. I really do miss the old format. They had way more content than these merged segments squished together. It’s never current with the news. I really miss the box office analysis. You’d think they’d keep that. And no, I’m not gonna join that one dude’s patreon to get it. I still listen, fast forward all the interviews cause I don’t care for them. I guess you get a decent 5 to... more

  • could you please go back to original format

I loved this show up until recently when they changed the format.

Bring back water cooler and box office summaries. Interviews tend to be boring.

    thank you

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Backrooms, Spider-Noir, Deli Boys Season 2, The Breadwinner, and A Bunch of Interviews
Q: What was the origin of the Spider-Noir concept and how did you choose the reference films?
I chose a mix of classic noir touchstones and Spider-Verse flavor, selecting period-appropriate films that would inspire the Ben Riley character while keeping the rights in check; the team shot multiple films to fit the mood, and the final choice balanced homage with original storytelling.
Paul Rudd/Nick Jonas/John Carney on Power Ballad, Will Friedle/Danielle Fishel/Rider Strong on Doc Meets World, Nicholas Galitzine/Camila Mendes/Travis Knight on Masters of the Universe, Samara Weaving/Kyle Gallner/Adam Carter Rehmeier on Carolina Caroline
Q: What do you think about AI in regards to movies and TV?
Paul Rudd emphasizes that AI cannot replace human soul and flaws in creation, and Nick Jonas adds that collaboration in a room with other people remains magical for songwriting and performance.
The Mandalorian and Grogu Isn't Even Really A Movie + Passenger (Feat. An Interview with Director André Øvredal)
Q: Is there potential for this story to expand into a franchise or spin-offs, and what about future appearances of the Passenger monster?
Øvredal notes that while a direct sequel may be challenging, there is potential for spin-offs or prequels focusing on different characters, and there is ongoing discussion about rights and development, suggesting more exploration could occur without repeating the exact same setup.
The Mandalorian and Grogu Isn't Even Really A Movie + Passenger (Feat. An Interview with Director André Øvredal)
Q: Was there a conscious decision to lean into cell phone usage and modern technology as part of the tension?
Yes, the director explains that the script already integrated screens and cameras into the van, using technology as a built-in tension driver rather than allowing it to simplify or shortcut the horror, grounding scenes in contemporary realism.
The Mandalorian and Grogu Isn't Even Really A Movie + Passenger (Feat. An Interview with Director André Øvredal)
Q: What was the main appeal of the Passenger script that made you join the project, and what changed in the final product?
Øvredal emphasizes relatable, human characters and a love for crafting suspenseful, original horror sequences; while the ending was tweaked, the core set pieces and character dynamics remained largely intact, focusing on real, practical production choices over heavy CGI rework.
