  • Mental awareness

For the first time I had to turn off the podcast on mental awareness because it made me depressed. Usually I find listening to the Sunday interviews light and refreshing. I like to stitch throughout. I could not keep listening to these sad stories. It just reminded me of my own loses and what a bleak future.

  • Love the talk about challenges

Oh wow I just loved the topic of challenges for stitching that you just put up. I love stitching challenges, but they are time ones, like stitch every day for 30 day of an hour or for 30 minutes and then you will not believe the progress you can make. You think 30 minutes is nothing but once you do it a few days in a row you can really make your piece grow and grow.

Talking Needlepoint with Clare Vickery of OZ Needle & Thread
Q: How did OZ Needle & Thread start and grow to where it is today?
Clare explains that her initial success came from Instagram and supportive collaborations, and that wholesale to stores plus direct-to-consumer sales created a scalable pipeline. She emphasizes a community-driven approach, with store partnerships and proactive designing for beginner stitchers, which helped expand her catalog and reach.
Poppy Monk Opens the Door to Needlepoint
Q: How did you transition from distributing kits to creating your own line of Needlepoint Kits?
Brenda describes starting with importing Jennifer Pudney kits, then building a wholesale base, launching a dedicated website, and eventually focusing on a modern, printed-canvas kit approach to address what stitchers want at different skill levels.
Let Jessica Grimm Expand Your Needlework Horizons
Q: What can members expect on Acupictrix now that the site has been rebuilt?
Members gain access to a comprehensive library of medieval goldwork courses, tutorials, eBooks, and forums, with downloadable mounting instructions and the option to purchase individual courses without a full membership.
Let Jessica Grimm Expand Your Needlework Horizons
Q: What prompted the shift to a self-hosted site instead of continuing with Patreon?
Patreon offered limited control over payments and data, and its demographic, primarily older women, faced accessibility issues, so a self-hosted platform provides complete control, better accessibility, and the ability to offer downloadable resources.
Framing Answers with Master Framer David Lantrip
Q: Do we lace it or pin it, and how do you decide?
For heavy needlepoint, lacing is typically mandatory to maintain tension and prevent weight from pulling pins through the fabric; pinning is acceptable for lighter grounds, but lacing is considered the standard for needlepoint.
