  • Alternately whispering and shouting

I love the content of this podcast, but it is extremely difficult to listen to. The difference in volume between the host and the recordings she plays is huge. I have to crank it up to hear the recordings, then be ready to quickly turn it way down when the host begins talking again. I really, really want to listen to every episode, but I’ve found it impossible. Too much frustration and too many volume related jump scares

  • Always Excellent and Joyful

I always enjoy the well-researched, empathetic, and joyful episodes of Haptic and Hue. I was nervous about the Gee’s Bend episode -Europeans can exoticize the South and Black people- but I found it to be one of the most respectful and meaningful episodes about the community that I’ve read. Jo allowed the complexity of artistic identity and craft and necessity to sit together comfortably without forcing a narrative over it all. I’m thankful for this story.
