  • Beyond a RPG module review podcast.

Love this show. I have listened through most episodes three times. Why? I learn something almost every time, even re listening. I have also purchased a fair number of modules featured on the show and have not been disappointed. Both Tom and Jason provide great insights on the module content, as well as pointers for module design and role playing skills and techniques. And unlike many rpg shows, their back and forth banter is entertaining. Five stars. I can also recommend other shows Jason ... more

  • Hits on all levels

I could, and have, listened to this podcast for days. I really enjoy the flow of the conversation between Jason and Tom - such a pleasure to listen to two well spoken, knowledgeable and witty folks with great rapport. I don’t usually bend towards OSR modules, but this podcast has convinced me to buy and play a few. But what’s more, it’s made me a better GM thanks to the Expert Delve section. I’m also often excited to discover new movies and synthwave bangers. You can’t go wrong with this podcast... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Piercing the Demon's Eye
Q: Were they more cautious because of the sprung trap, or were they more careless because they thought all the traps were sprung?
They were more cautious; if they recalled correctly, someone pointed out that there were bodies before, but there's no bodies here suggesting a recent trap.
Piercing the Demon's Eye
Q: How did the real world timer aspects work?
It did work; it was fun as the timer started and people started making that decision about how much treasure they could carry and get away.
The Necropolis
Q: Can this scenario fit into a larger campaign?
Yes, particularly if the abomination escapes, setting the stage for a new group of investigators to mop up the mess.
The Necropolis
Q: What are your thoughts on this setting of crawling around in old Egyptian tombs?
It's an accessible idea for players. Even new players who haven't played RPGs before can relate to the themes.
Night's Dark Terror (Part 1)
Q: Do you think Night's Dark Terror is too distinct to actually be used in anyone's ongoing campaign?
It's a refinement; it has not achieved iconic status because it excels at presenting bog-standard D&D concepts.
