As a Protestant listener to Fr Simon’s podcast for about 15 years, I have learned more from him than any other Bible study I have attended in 35 years. As a dead language scholar, he has “awakened” me to correct definitions in scripture and changed my POV. I have also learned a lot about Catholics and love the saints. I thank Catholic monks for bringing the world the Bible by hand! Thank you “Fr Know It All” with all my love from Texas!

He knows the Scriptures. And he’s got a good sense of humor, even if every once in a while he’s a bit grouchy. Aren’t we all?

  • Quirky True Catholic

Fr Simon is like that uncle you see at Thanksgiving. He always tells the same stories and the same jokes, but you love him for it. If you are interested in what the Bible actually says in it’s original language Fr Simon is your guy.

  • Love Fr. Simon

Self deprecating, has a wonderful sense of him our and is very very knowledgeable. His mix of humor, levity and theology without compromising the truth is truly “Pastoral”!!!!!

Have learned so much and am so edified by his faithful Priesthood. Thank you!

And I love the fact that he is not a professional radio guy. It’s literally like just hanging out with him.

He is so “real” - and not trying to be admired loved or liked by the worldly powers.

Also thank you so much for not talking about the ... more

Father Simon Says - April 27, 2026 - Centurions!
Q: My question, briefly, is do you know what Pope Pius XII's role was, if any, in the Allied decision to bomb Monte Cassino after it was taken over as a military fortress by the Nazis?
The host admits limited knowledge on the specifics of Pius XII's role in that bombing and discusses a broader context of his anti-Nazi stance and post-war assessments, while suggesting further research.
St. Paul's World - April 24, 2026
Q: Why is the host considered the body and the cup the blood in Catholic teaching?
Because of the doctrine of concomitants: the host becomes the body and the cup becomes the blood, so receiving the host alone still communicates both elements of the Eucharist, though the cup was historically restricted.
St. Paul's World - April 24, 2026
Q: Is it sinful to read Protestant translations like the ESV?
Not inherently; what matters is reverence for Scripture and reading within the Church's guidance, recognizing that every word is inspired but translations vary and imprimatur helps identify approved editions.
St. Paul's World - April 24, 2026
Q: What is meant by the Glory Be prayer's 'world without end' clause?
It signifies that eternity and the present moment are not separate; believers live in a perpetual present where God's eternity intersects with time, implying the fullness of life is found in glorifying God now.
Istanbul, Not Constantinople - April 28, 2026
Q: Is it okay to throw away a broken rosary or torn religious texts?
The host clarifies when sacred items may be discarded, stressing use and consecration over superstition.
