  • Grateful for Patrick Madrid and Relevant Radio

I had been urged by a friend and my sister to listen to Relevant Radio for quite some time and I started listening around 3 years ago and haven’t stopped. I especially like Patrick’s show because I have learned more about Catholicism that I never knew in all my 70 years! Oh if I knew all these things before I might be a saint! Thank you for all that you do to educate us.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Patrick Madrid Show: June 02, 2026 - Hour 2
Q: How can I bring a friend to faith in Jesus Christ?
Be a good witness by living authentically and letting your example speak first, rather than forcing conversations or being ostentatious.
The Patrick Madrid Show: June 04, 2026 - Hour 1
Q: How should Catholics understand anti-Semitism and the Jewish roots in Christian tradition within modern dialogue?
The guest explains that while there are many Jews with diverse beliefs, it's important to distinguish critique of political actions from prejudice against Jewish people as a group, and to recognize shared roots in faith history.
The Patrick Madrid Show: June 04, 2026 - Hour 1
Q: What are the canonical requirements for witnesses at a Catholic wedding and how might modern family dynamics affect a wedding ceremony?
The host explains that two witnesses are required for validity, typically siblings from each family, and emphasizes that the overall ceremony should reflect traditional requirements while acknowledging unusual family dynamics.
The Patrick Madrid Show: May 11, 2026 - Hour 2
Q: My question was about why the Book of Enoch is not canonical scripture and its relation to the Dead Sea Scrolls. Why isn't it part of the Bible?
The host explains that the Book of Enoch contains content contrary to core Catholic teachings (e.g., Gnostic elements, view of matter) and thus was not judged to be inspired scripture, despite fragments found among the Dead Sea Scrolls; canonization involved evaluating authenticity and alignment with apostolic teaching, leading to its exclusion from the canonical Bible.
The Patrick Madrid Show: May 12, 2026 - Hour 1
Q: Is there a historical claim about scripture being compiled for the liturgy?
The host explains that scripture was not written for liturgy per se, but that early Christian writings and Didache show scripture deeply woven into liturgies, and the motivation for writing scripture is salvation and accurate testimony about Jesus, not specifically to serve the Mass.
