  • More Buzz!

Always looked up to Buzz ever since the days of those UD handhelds, this is a great podcast! When I met him in Silverton in the mid 2010s it was like meeting a true legend

  • Very disappointed

I used to be a big fan of this podcast and had given it 5 stars. Buzz was great. But unfortunately they decided to allow a biological male to take a female's record and acknowledge the accomplishment as a female. I don't have anything against an adult wanting to be whatever they want but in the interest of protecting biological women, I can't support this. It is incredibly disappointing.

  • a dose of purpose and presence and absurdity

This podcast is the antidote to today’s distraction, disorientation, and disconnection. Heather Anderson and her guest tell stories of taking on a quest, being with nature and community (even on the unsupported efforts !). It’s the boost we all need now to see how we can take on hard challenges together, while having lots of laughs and snacks.

  • Not the same as before!

Same reoccurring guests, and it’s drifted a different direction. As much as I wanted to like this new version, I’m done.

  • Amazing content, meh execution

So, like, obviously, kinda, I’m curious, um…

I have a ton of respect for Heather Anderson as an athlete, but her interview chops are lacking. Every uttered sentence is rife with the same filler words, so much that it can pull me out of the interview. The guests and overall content of the podcast are A+. I know it’s impossible to fill Buzz’s shoes, though there’s plenty of space for improvement.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Cameron Bostock: Australia's Bibbulmun Track -#285
Q: How did you handle sleep deprivation and its effects?
Sleep dropped to around three hours a night in the final days; I used caffeine and strategic naps to reset focus, accepting that hallucinations and muddled thinking were part of the challenge but learning to push through.
Cameron Bostock: Australia's Bibbulmun Track -#285
Q: What was your food and fueling strategy during the trek?
I aimed for high calories per weight, mostly dehydrated meals, heavy on fats and carbs, with frequent chocolate and varied snacks to keep things from getting monotonous while maintaining energy.
Cameron Bostock: Australia's Bibbulmun Track -#285
Q: Why did you choose to go northbound on the Bibbulmun Track for the FKT?
Going northbound put the harder, hillier sections at the start when the pack was heaviest, which I believed would set a solid baseline and be logistically sensible given the terrain and weather patterns.
Lotti Brinks: Zion Crossing FKT -#282
Q: What were your goals going into this, and how did the actual result compare?
My goal was to push for a hard, long effort and beat the overall FKT, aiming to go under six hours; the route ended up being a strong performance, finishing well and with significant time shaved off the previous records.
Lotti Brinks: Zion Crossing FKT -#282
Q: Could you just tell our listeners a little bit about the route that you set an FKT on? Describe where it is, start and end, and overview.
The Zion Crossing route is a 37-mile version that runs through Zion National Park from west to east, with varied terrain including creek beds, sandy sections, and high-elevation ridges; it used to be longer before a rock fall in 2019.
