  • Great Podcast, Great Host

This spring, I had the pleasure of hearing Heather Anderson live in Silver City, and like her ecxcellent interviews, she was a passionate and articulate speaker. Look forward to each new episode. Five stars!

  • More Buzz!

Always looked up to Buzz ever since the days of those UD handhelds, this is a great podcast! When I met him in Silverton in the mid 2010s it was like meeting a true legend

  • Very disappointed

I used to be a big fan of this podcast and had given it 5 stars. Buzz was great. But unfortunately they decided to allow a biological male to take a female's record and acknowledge the accomplishment as a female. I don't have anything against an adult wanting to be whatever they want but in the interest of protecting biological women, I can't support this. It is incredibly disappointing.

  • a dose of purpose and presence and absurdity

This podcast is the antidote to today’s distraction, disorientation, and disconnection. Heather Anderson and her guest tell stories of taking on a quest, being with nature and community (even on the unsupported efforts !). It’s the boost we all need now to see how we can take on hard challenges together, while having lots of laughs and snacks.

  • Not the same as before!

Same reoccurring guests, and it’s drifted a different direction. As much as I wanted to like this new version, I’m done.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sophie Woods: Via Alpina FKT -#294
Q: How did the team support affect the outcome?
The crew, including her husband and close friends, played a crucial role in logistics, safety, and morale, such as organizing mid-run food, managing hotel stays, arranging gear, and executing a safe diversion during wildfire challenges.
Sophie Woods: Via Alpina FKT -#294
Q: What were the biggest physical and logistical hurdles?
The conversation highlights navigation difficulties due to changing country signage, extreme heat with high fluid needs, sleep deprivation, and coordinating a small crew to manage logistics like refueling, repairs, and shelter.
Sophie Woods: Via Alpina FKT -#294
Q: What motivated you to take on the Via Alpina for this FKT?
Sophie explains it was a combination of seeking a different, longer challenge beyond traditional races and a personal desire to escape fertility-related pressures, with the Via Alpina offering a month-long, mountaineous backdrop that could transform the experience.
Ann Burchfield: Bartram Trail FKT -#296
Q: How did you manage sleep and rest during such a long attempt?
I planned to start rested and did not sleep during the attempt, relying on momentum and pacing; I generally avoid naps unless absolutely necessary, believing the continuous movement helps maintain speed and morale until the finish.
Ann Burchfield: Bartram Trail FKT -#296
Q: Why did you choose southbound?
There were several reasons, including getting the more difficult terrain out of the way early and starting higher up, which created a favorable downhill progression overall and aligned with preferred logistics for a long start-to-finish effort.
